The Seven Last Words of Our Saviour on the Cross by Joseph Haydn
Presented by The Cathedral Chamber Choir and the Badinerie Players, directed by Graeme Morton.
Haydn considered the Seven Last Words to be one of his greatest works, and though it superior to either of his later oratorios, The Creation and The Seasons.
Written for performance within the Good Friday liturgy, this personal reflection by Haydn, a devout Catholic takes us to the foot of the cross and to the suffering Christ.
There is no admission charge for this performance. Programmes with text will be available for sale. Donations will be accepted for the work of the Church in Jerusalem.
