Eucharist to Celebrate Twenty Years of Women Priests in Australia:

After February 1992 ordinations in Canberra were halted because of a recourse to the Supreme Court, a special General Synod voted in favour of the ordination of women as priests. In Brisbane a special Synod was held in November to approve the General Synod motion and on December 20 that year, five women were ordained as priests.
This year, there will be a number of celebrations.
A Novena of Meditations published on this blog and used publicly throughout the Diocese – May 22 – 30 to mark the dates of the Consecration of Australia’s first women bishops in 2008
A Eucharist in St John’s Cathedral celebrated by Bishop Barbara Darling July 13 at 7.00pm
The publication of a book of the way in which women clergy express themselves in poetry, liturgy and art.
A celebratory dinner on December 7 – details to be released soon.
