Flower Guild

Flowers are provided in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel and are given as a perpetual memorial each week. These matching arrangements are in small silver vases and are usually made up of Spray carnations and foliage.

Large pedestals of flowers are placed beneath the Pulpit and near the Lecturn each week except during the seasons of Advent and Lent. Chrysanthemums, Sims carnations and Alstromeria are the most commonly used flowers with Asiatic Lilies, Proteas and Gerberas used on special occasions.

Foliage is always an important part of any arrangement and is usually picked from the arranger's garden on the day.

Small arrangements are placed in the Lady Chapel and on the Guides table each week.

Special flowers are arranged for weddings and in memorium. A request for these should be made a few weeks in advance. Donations towards the cost of flowers are always welcome. Special flowers are noted in the Pew Bulletin with wording provided by the donor.

Most of the flower arrangers are members of the Floral Art Society of Queensland and a high standard of flower arranging is maintained.

The Flower Guild is keen to expand its membership and would welcome enquiries from people who might like to join.
