Ambassadors of St John's Cathedral
Patron to launch Ambassadors
Launching the Ambassadors of St John’s Cathedral on Shrove Tuesday 16 February in the cathedral, will be the Guest of Honour and recently appointed Patron, the Hon Justice Susan Kiefel, a Justice of the High Court of Australia from September 2009.
It is fitting to have such a prominent Queenslander as Patron of this burgeoning band of cathedral well wishers. Justice Kiefel’s professional career began as a secretary in a law firm in 197l, and after graduating from university and coming to the Bar in 1975, she was a vigorous practitioner of the law in this State before continuing studies in Cambridge U.K.
Among the many achievements for Justice Kiefel is being the first woman Queens’ Counsel in this State upon her return to Australia in 1987. She has held many positions of distinction both at State and national levels since then.
We expect she will toss a pancake too, after launching the Ambassadors.
Pancakes will be eaten by everybody attending the 6pm function to mark this auspicious occasion for Ambassadors, and the traditional accompanying fun will mark the preparation for a more serious season of Lent. All this is will be a fitting, warm welcome for the new Patron of Ambassadors.
Tickets:$35, Ambassadors members & concessions $30.
