April 28 – The Whisper of Creation

“In the beginning there was the Word; the Word was in God’s presence, and the Word was God. The Word was present to God from the beginning.” (John 1:1)

In the quiet stillness of a garden, a tiny seed lies dormant in the rich earth. Within its humble form, an entire universe of potential awaits the perfect conditions to burst forth into life. Just as the Word was present with God from the beginning, the seed carries within it the whisper of creation, a divine spark ready to emerge and transform the world around it. Franciscan spirituality invites us to recognise the sacred in the small and seemingly insignificant, to marvel at the intricate beauty of God’s handiwork in the natural world. As we witness the seed’s journey from dormancy to growth, we are reminded of the power of beginnings and the potential for emergence in our own lives.

Reflection:

1. What seeds of potential lie dormant within me, waiting for the right conditions to emerge and flourish?

2. How can I cultivate a sense of reverence and wonder for the sacred in the everyday moments of my life?

Prayer:

Creator God, may I attune my heart to the whisper of your presence in all things, and trust in the power of small beginnings to transform my world.
