May 15 – The Artistry of Creation
“We are God’s work of art, created in Christ Jesus to do the good things God created us to do from the beginning.” (Ephesians 2:10)
Just as the intricate patterns and hues of the rainbow lorikeet’s plumage blend together in a stunning display of artistry, each one of us is a unique masterpiece, crafted by the loving hands of the Divine. Our lives, with their joys, sorrows, and growth, are all part of the grand design, a testament to the creativity and love of the Creator.
In the eyes of Franciscan spirituality, every body is a precious work of art, imbued with a sacred purpose and beauty that reflects the face of Christ. As we walk through life, we are called to embrace our identity as God’s beloved creation, trusting in the good things we were designed to do from the very beginning. By nurturing the seeds of compassion, love, and service within our hearts, we participate in the ongoing artistry of the Divine, contributing to the beauty and wholeness of the world.
Reflection:
1. How can I cultivate a deeper appreciation for the unique artistry of my own life, and trust in the good things I am called to do?
2. In what ways can I celebrate and honour the sacred artistry in others, recognising the face of Christ in every person I encounter?
Prayer:
Divine Artist, help me to embrace my identity as Your beloved creation, a precious work of art designed to reflect Your love and compassion. Guide me in nurturing the seeds of goodness within my heart, that I may contribute to the beauty and wholeness of Your creation.
