July 10 – Unexpected Blossoms of Creation
Through the Word all things came into being, and apart from the Word nothing came into being that has come into being. (John 1:3)
In the depths of Australia’s rainforests, the Coolamon tree stands as a testament to the mysterious ways of creation. Unlike most trees, its vibrant pink flowers emerge directly from its trunk, defying conventional expectations of where new life should spring forth. This rare and beautiful phenomenon echoes the divine wisdom that permeates all of creation, reminding us that the Word through which all things came into being often manifests in surprising and awe-inspiring ways.
The Coolamon’s unique flowering pattern invites us to embrace a spirituality of wonder and openness. Just as the tree’s trunk becomes an unexpected canvas for new life, we too are called to recognise the potential for growth and renewal in all aspects of our lives. By cultivating an attitude of receptivity and awe, we open ourselves to the endless possibilities of how the divine Word continues to bring forth new life in our world and in our hearts.
Reflection:
1. Where in my life am I being invited to look for new beginnings in unexpected places?
2. How can I cultivate a greater sense of wonder and openness to the ways the divine Word is manifesting in my daily life?
Prayer:
Creator of all, open my eyes to the surprising ways You bring forth new life in the world and in my heart. Help me to approach each day with wonder and gratitude for the endless creativity of Your love.
