July 11 – Emerging Grace
But God made it clear to me not to call anyone unclean or impure. (Acts 10:28)
In the hidden depths of Australia’s arid lands, a remarkable creature challenges our perceptions of life’s diversity. The marsupial mole, with its blind eyes and subterranean lifestyle, emerges rarely, reminding us that existence thrives in unexpected forms. This unique mammal invites reflection on the nature of judgment and the limitations of our understanding. Like Peter in Acts, who learned to embrace those he once deemed unclean, the marsupial mole teaches that true wisdom lies in suspending preconceptions and embracing the mystery of creation.
The humble mole’s journey echoes the spiritual path of emergence and transformation. Its occasional surfacing from the depths mirrors our own moments of awakening, where new understandings break through the soil of old beliefs. In this light, every creature, every person, becomes a potential bearer of divine revelation. The mole’s existence whispers of a universe far more intricate and interconnected than our limited senses perceive, calling us to approach all of life with reverence and wonder.
Reflection:
1. How might I open my heart to see the divine presence in those I have previously judged or misunderstood?
2. In what ways can I cultivate a deeper awareness of the hidden mysteries in the world around me?
Prayer:
Divine Creator, open my eyes to the wonder of Your creation in all its forms. Grant me the humility to suspend judgment and the grace to recognise Your presence in the unexpected.
