July 31 – Etched in Eternity

God did this so that human beings would seek, reach out for, and perhaps find the One who is not really far from any of us— the One in whom we live and move and have our being. As one of your poets has put it, ‘We too are God’s children.’ Acts 17:27-28

In the heart of Western Australia stands Wave Rock, a testament to the divine artistry of subsurface chemical weathering over countless millennia. This massive, frozen wave of granite invites contemplation of the eternal amidst the ever-changing. Like the rock, our hearts are shaped by the gentle yet persistent touch of the Divine, carved into unique expressions of God’s love. The rock’s unwavering presence amid the shifting sands of time echoes the steadfast nature of the Creator, who is never far from us.

Wave Rock embodies the paradox of stability within flux, mirroring our spiritual journey. As we seek the Divine, we discover that we are already immersed in God’s presence, living and moving within the cosmic dance of creation. This realisation invites a shift from frantic searching to peaceful awareness, embracing our identity as beloved children of the Universe, eternally connected to the Source of all being.

Reflection:
1. How can I cultivate a deeper awareness of God’s presence in the seemingly ordinary aspects of my daily life?
2. In what ways might I be resisting the Divine’s gentle shaping of my soul, and how can I surrender more fully to this transformative process?

Prayer:
Divine Sculptor, help me to stand firm like Wave Rock, rooted in Your presence while embracing the changes that shape me. May I recognise Your artistry in every moment, knowing that I am Your beloved child, forever held in Your eternal embrace.
