October 13 – Emerging from Dormancy

For we don’t have a high priest who is unable to sympathise with our weaknesses, but one who was tempted in every way that we are, yet never sinned. So let us confidently approach the throne of grace to receive mercy and favour, and find help in time of need. (Hebrews 4:15-16)

In the Kosciuszko National Park, the alpine meadows burst forth with vibrant wildflowers after lying dormant under the winter snow. This natural cycle of dormancy followed by new life mirrors the spiritual journey. Just as Christ, our High Priest, faced temptations and struggles, we too experience seasons where growth seems stagnant and challenges abound. Yet, these periods of apparent inactivity are essential for the transformation that follows.

As we approach the throne of grace with confidence, we open ourselves to receive the mercy and favour that nurtures our souls. This divine grace is the sunlight that melts away the hardened snow of our doubts and fears, allowing the seeds of faith to sprout and flourish. In the same way that the wildflowers emerge from the barren landscape, renewed beauty and vitality blossom within us, testifying to the resilient nature of the human spirit when rooted in the love of the Divine.

Reflection:
1. What areas of my life feel dormant or stagnant right now, and how can I trust in the process of transformation?
2. How can I approach the throne of grace with confidence, knowing that the Divine understands my struggles and offers mercy and favour?

Prayer:
May I have faith in the sacred rhythm of life, trusting that even in times of dormancy, the Divine is at work within me, preparing the way for new growth and beauty to emerge.
