October 20 – Metamorphosis

If you would save your life, you’ll lose it, but if you lose your life for my sake, you’ll save it. (Matthew 16:25)

In the intricate dance of a butterfly’s metamorphosis, we witness a profound spiritual truth: the path to new life often demands a surrender of the old. The caterpillar must first relinquish its former identity, trusting in the unseen process of transformation within the chrysalis. Only by letting go of its previous form can it emerge as a resplendent butterfly, embracing a new way of being in the world.

Similarly, our spiritual journey invites us to release our grip on the life we have known, trusting that by surrendering our ego and desires, we open ourselves to a more authentic and purposeful existence. Just as the caterpillar cannot comprehend the beauty and freedom that awaits it, we too may fear the unknown that lies ahead. Yet, by surrendering our lives to a higher purpose, we discover that what we once clung to pales in comparison to the abundant life we are called to embrace.

Reflection:
1. What aspects of my life am I being called to surrender in order to experience deeper spiritual growth and transformation?
2. How can I cultivate a greater sense of trust and openness to the unknown, even in the midst of uncertainty and change?

Prayer:
Divine Presence, grant me the courage to surrender my life to You, trusting in the transformative power of Your love. May I emerge from this sacred journey renewed and empowered to live a life of purpose and authenticity.
