November 17 – Shaped by Living Water

And I pray that God, out of the riches of divine glory, will strengthen you inwardly with power through the working of the Spirit. May Christ dwell in your hearts through faith, so that you, being rooted and grounded in love (Ephesians 3:16-17)

The Chillagoe Caves in Australia are a testament to the transformative power of water and time. Over millions of years, water has patiently carved out a vast network of limestone caverns, creating a subterranean wonderland of intricate passages and chambers. The caves stand as a reminder that even the hardest, most unyielding substances can be shaped and molded by the persistent, gentle touch of water. Similarly, the Spirit works within the human heart, gradually transforming it into a dwelling place for the divine presence.

The spiritual life is a journey of ongoing transformation, just as the caves were formed by the steady flow of water. As one opens themselves to the Spirit’s influence, their heart is slowly reshaped, becoming more spacious, resilient, and capable of holding the love and light of Christ. This process requires surrendering resistance and allowing change from within, and as one yields to the Spirit’s gentle guidance, they find themselves filled with a grounding, connecting love.

Reflection:

  1. In what areas of my life am I being called to surrender and allow the Spirit to reshape me from within?
  2. How can I cultivate a more open and receptive heart, one that is ready to be transformed by the power of divine love?

Prayer:

Divine Presence, I open my heart to the transformative power of your Spirit. Help me to trust in the slow work of inner transformation, knowing that your love is shaping me into a more compassionate and Christ-like being.
