November 20 – Small Beginnings

The truth is, if you have even as much faith as the tiny mustard seed, you can be able to say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you. (Matthew 17:20)

The Murray River, Australia’s longest river, begins as a small stream in the Australian Alps. As it winds its way through the landscape, it gathers strength from tributaries and rainfall, gradually growing in size and power. By the time it reaches the ocean, it has become a mighty river, shaping the land and supporting an abundance of life along its banks. This natural wonder illustrates a profound spiritual truth: even the smallest beginnings, when imbued with faith and commitment, can lead to tremendous growth and transformation.

Just as the Murray River starts as a humble stream, our own journeys of faith often begin with a small seed of belief. This seed, nurtured by prayer, trust, and action, can grow into a powerful force capable of moving mountains and reshaping our lives. The key is to remain steadfast in our faith, even when faced with challenges or doubts. By staying connected to the Divine Source and allowing ourselves to be guided by its wisdom, we open ourselves to the possibility of growth and transformation beyond our wildest imaginings.

Reflection:

  1. What small steps can I take today to nurture the seed of faith within me?

  2. How can I remain open to the transformative power of the Divine, even in the face of challenges or doubts?

Prayer:

Divine Source, grant me the courage to trust in the power of small beginnings. Help me to nurture the seed of faith within me, that I may grow in wisdom, love, and service to all of creation.
