December 25 – River of Transformation
And we, who with unveiled faces reflect our God’s glory, grow brighter and brighter as we are being transformed into the image we reflect. This is the work of our God, who is Spirit. (2 Corinthians 3:18)
As we celebrate the birth of Christ, the ultimate embodiment of God’s transformative love, let us turn our gaze to the Murray River. This majestic waterway winds through the Australian landscape, shaping and transforming the ecosystems it touches. The river’s journey is a beautiful metaphor for the work of the Divine Spirit in our lives. Just as the river brings life, nourishment, and change to the land, God’s Spirit flows through us, gradually transforming us into a clearer reflection of the Divine image.
As we navigate the complexities of life, we may encounter obstacles and challenges, much like the river faces rocks and fallen trees. Yet, the river adapts, finding new paths and creating new life in the process. Similarly, when we open ourselves to the transformative power of God’s Spirit, we too can adapt and grow, even in the face of adversity. This Christmas, let us embrace the transformative journey, knowing that with each twist and turn, we are being shaped into a more beautiful reflection of God’s love.
Reflection:
-
How can I open myself more fully to the transformative work of God’s Spirit in my life, especially during this Christmas season?
-
What obstacles or challenges am I currently facing, and how might I allow God’s Spirit to guide me through them, like the river finding its way through the landscape?
Prayer:
Divine Spirit, on this holy day of Christmas, I invite your transformative presence to flow through me like the mighty Murray River. Guide me, shape me, and help me to reflect your love and glory more brightly with each passing day.
