January 17 – Clean Heart
O God, create a clean heart in me, put into me a new and steadfast spirit. (Psalm 51:10)
The tiny desert ant embarks on a journey back to the nest guided by the celestial cues. The ant relies on the position of the sun and the patterns of polarised light in the sky to navigate its way home. This innate ability to orient itself by light is a remarkable example of the intricate design woven into the fabric of creation.
Just as the ant trusts in the guidance of the celestial cues, we too can look to the Divine for direction in our lives. When we feel lost or uncertain, we can turn our hearts towards the Light and trust that an emerging future will unfold. The psalmist’s plea for a clean heart and a steadfast spirit is a reminder that we are constantly being renewed and transformed by the power of Divine Love. By aligning ourselves with this Love, we open ourselves to the guidance and wisdom that is always available to us.
