March 12

Those who believed lived together, shared all things in common; they would sell their property and goods, sharing the proceeds with one another as each had need. (Acts 2:44-45)

Just as the early believers shared their resources and cared for one another’s needs, we can also provide for the needs of small creatures like butterflies in our own gardens. Nectar plants provide sustenance for the adult butterflies, while host plants provide food for the caterpillars. Recognising the interdependent relationships, where each element plays a vital role in supporting the others, mirrors the functioning of a community that understands the power of sharing and mutual care.

Just as the garden supports the metamorphosis of caterpillars into butterflies, our acts of generosity and compassion can create the conditions for transformation and growth in the lives of those around us and ourselves. In this way, we participate in the sacred dance of life, recognising that we are all part of a greater whole.

Reflection:

  1. How can I cultivate a spirit of generosity and sharing in my own life, recognising that my well-being is interconnected with the well-being of others?

  2. In what ways can I create nurturing environments that support the growth and transformation of those around me, just as the butterfly garden supports the metamorphosis of caterpillars?

Prayer:

Divine Source of Life, may I embrace the sacred truth of interconnectedness and generosity. Guide me in creating spaces of nurturing and transformation, where all may thrive and grow in the light of Your love.
