For in Christ were created all things in heaven and on earth: everything visible and invisible. (Colossians 1:16)

In the lush Australian Rainforests, towering trees and diverse understory plants thrive, drawing sustenance from the nutrient-rich soils. Yet, this visible abundance is sustained by the invisible – the countless microbes, fungi, and invertebrates that tirelessly break down organic matter and cycle nutrients. This intricate balance and interdependence of visible and invisible life showcases the profound wisdom inherent in Christ’s creation.

Just as the unseen supports the seen in the rainforest, our spiritual lives are nourished by the invisible presence of the Divine. We may focus on the tangible aspects of our faith, but it is the unseen connection to the sacred that truly sustains us. By recognising the interdependence of the visible and invisible, we cultivate a deeper appreciation for the wholeness and unity present in all of creation.

Reflection:

  1. How can I become more attuned to the invisible aspects of my faith that nourish my spiritual growth?

  2. In what ways can I honour the interdependence of all life, both seen and unseen, in my daily actions?

Prayer:

Creator of all, help me to recognise Your presence in both the visible and invisible aspects of life. May I embrace the interconnectedness of all things and live in harmony with Your creation.
