March 23

Cast your burden on God, who will sustain you, and will never allow the righteous to be overthrown. (Psalm 55:22)

In the vast, arid expanse of the Australian outback, the spinifex grass stands as a testament to the power of resilience. This hardy plant thrives in the most challenging conditions, its deep roots drawing sustenance from the parched earth, its leaves shimmering in the unrelenting sun. The spinifex grass does not merely survive in the wilderness; it flourishes, creating an oasis of life in a landscape that seems inhospitable to growth.

Just as the spinifex grass is sustained by unseen roots that tap into hidden reserves of strength, we too can find sustenance in the midst of life’s difficulties. When we cast our burdens upon the Divine, we open ourselves to a source of resilience that is greater than our own. We discover that even in the most barren and desolate seasons of our lives, there is a sacred presence that upholds us. Like the spinifex grass, we can learn to thrive in the wilderness, our spirits shimmering with the radiance of trust in the One who sustains us.

Reflection:

  1. What burdens am I carrying that I need to entrust to the care of the Divine?

  2. How can I cultivate a deeper sense of resilience and trust, even in the midst of life’s challenges?

Prayer:

Divine Sustainer, help me to cast my burdens upon You, trusting in Your love and care. Grant me the resilience of the spinifex grass, that I may flourish even in the wilderness seasons of my life.
