Whoever does the will of Abba God in heaven is my sister and brother and mother. (Matthew 12:50)
In the vibrant tapestry of an Australian garden, we find a striking embodiment of diversity and inclusion. From the majestic eucalyptus to the delicate kangaroo paw, each plant plays a unique role in the intricate web of life. The wattle tree, with its golden blooms, draws in pollinators of all kinds, while the hardy banksia provides shelter and sustenance to countless creatures. Together, they create a resilient ecosystem that thrives on the rich interplay of difference.
So it is with the family of God. We are all part of a larger whole, bound together by the love of the Divine. In the eyes of Abba God, there are no outsiders or strangers, only beloved sisters and brothers. When we open our hearts to this radical inclusivity, we discover that our differences are not a threat, but a gift. Each of us, in our glorious diversity, has a part to play in the unfolding story of creation.
Reflection:
1. How can I cultivate a heart that welcomes the stranger and embraces the beauty of diversity?
2. What unique gifts and perspectives do I bring to the larger community of life, and how can I use them to foster a spirit of inclusion?
Prayer:
Abba God, help me to see the world through your eyes of love, recognising the sacred thread that binds all things together. May I embrace the beauty of diversity and work to create a world where all belong.
