ADVOCACY
The communities that make up the Anglican Communion seek to organise their mission around what are known as The Five Marks of Mission.
The Five Marks of Mission:
The mission of the Church is the mission of Christ
- To proclaim the Good News of the Kingdom
- To teach, baptise and nurture new believers
- To respond to human need by loving service
- To transform unjust structures of society, to challenge violence of every kind and pursue peace and reconciliation
- To strive to safeguard the integrity of creation, and sustain and renew the life of the earth
Marks 4 and 5 commit us to being involved in making the world a better place through the pursuit of justice, enabling human flourishing and protecting the planet.
The St John’s Community takes this call seriously and has adopted its own Social Justice Statement:
St John’s Cathedral is committed to the principles of social and eco justice.
We actively pursue just outcomes for all.
